"Part of the meditation process is to allow your mind to clear, follow a journey, and allow thoughts to pass through," says artist Candice Eisenfeld. "The vertical, thin section in the middle is an abstracted version of the landscape, it is varnished while the other parts have no gloss. This process was done to illustrate how our perceptions of the world and experiences can change, and how we can recognize these lenses to achieve clarity. The left side depicts peaceful, floating, abstracted thoughts."
About the Artist
As an American exploring issues of identity, artist Candice Eisenfeld paints through the lens of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School. Rather than depicting a specific locale, Candice’s artwork evokes a sense of place. These "inner landscapes" are invented, and often reference photographs taken during travels in southern Appalachia and the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains. Whether real or imagined, her paintings are influenced by the Dutch Masters, Tonalists, and Chinese painting. Produced on a single wooden panel, the ethereal landscapes are often joined with segments of aqueous color fields which act as commentary for the landscapes, like the chorus in a Greek play. The crisp, hard edges separating the landscapes from the color fields command a sense of order in an otherwise fluid and painterly surface. With two or three sections of the panel competing for attention, the painting creates multiple focal points. Candice's art has been displayed in embassies in Namibia and Belarus, held in the collections of Norwest Bank and Northwest...

With a harmonious flow of color and form, artist Sheila Grabarsky offers an expression of spring colors in the garden. Layers of red, pink, yellow and green curve together in a profusion of new growth. "This painting was done intuitively and evolved via interspersed layering until a cohesive composition was defined," says Sheila.
About the Artist
Sheila Grabarsky is known for her bold, gestural nature scenes. Her fluid paintings have been compared to those of Vasily Kandinsky, the Russian painter and art theorist referred to as the father of abstraction. And, like Kandinsky, the essence of inner beauty and the potency of the human spirit are key factors in her art. Sheila's art carries an air of spontaneity, however, the work develops in many layers and takes a long time to come together. "I search for evolving forms within the composition, look for 'eye flow' and use my color intuition," she explains. "This is the mystery I love about abstraction - always evolving and birthing itself." Sheila draws energy and inspiration from living near water, and says she rarely travels because she does not like to be away from painting. In her studio, she is usually accompanied by three animal friends and an eclectic playlist of Janis Joplin, blues, reggae and classical. In 2016, Sheila's art was featured in the movie American Pastoral, starring Ewan McGregor and Dakota Fanning.

Artist Morgan Fite utilizes palette knives to create subtle, feathery layers in this abstract piece. "I was inspired by the olive tree, an unexpected evergreen whose fruit, much like us, undergoes immense crushing and pressing in order to produce its cherished oil."
About the Artist
Abstract artist and Tennessee-native Morgan Fite paints delicate compositions that allude to natural forms and changing light. She paints with neutral tones and feathery brushstrokes that give her art its soft and dreamlike quality. She is inspired by her travels and cites the earthy tones of Central Africa and the textures of Roman architecture as particularly influential. For each piece, she begins her process by selecting a color palette from her collection of flowers and rocks. Throughout her portfolio, Morgan strives to make art that invites, moves, and inspires.

Artist Candice Eisenfeld presents a painting within a painting emanating warmth and light from the middle. "These paintings are meant to explore levels of meaning as they connect our personal experiences to a world severely distanced from ourselves," states Candice. Her interest lies in understanding what is at the core of human nature—desire, curiosity, love, and hope. "It is narrating a personal archeology of the id while simultaneously relating to other people what is timelessly universal."
About the Artist
As an American exploring issues of identity, artist Candice Eisenfeld paints through the lens of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School. Rather than depicting a specific locale, Candice’s artwork evokes a sense of place. Artist Gary J. Noland Jr. unveils an enthralling abstract piece dominated by black and white strokes. He combines two of his signature series to create this captivating composition. Gary creates tension by applying a brightly colored grid to a muted surface that is scrapped, scratched, and sanded to reveal what lies beneath.
About the Artist
Artist Gary Noland Jr. creates expressive abstracts with rich colors, splashes, and mark-making. “I create layers that are then scraped, scratched, and sanded to give a glimpse of what lies beneath the surface,†says Gary. Artistically inclined at a young age, Gary was inspired to pursue his creativity after winning a poster-making contest in the first grade. Later, he completed his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky, fully realizing his dynamic abstractions. Gary worked in quality departments of various manufacturing plants—their floors layered with paint and tape that had been scratched or worn down over many years—became a key influence of his distinctive style. Today, his process begins with images of old floors...

Artist Patrick O'Boyle depicts a festive horse from the carnival carousel. Vibrant colors and geometric shapes make up its quirky structure. Water splashes on the surface display alluring and unique patterns. Patrick paints it abstractly, from a nostalgic childhood memory.
About the Artist
Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete. Using extra-long handles on his brushes, Patrick paints at a distance from the canvas so he can see the works evolve as a whole from the one color he starts with to the vibrant array at the end.
