Pair of “Lufthavns Stole” Chairs by Ditte Heath and Adrian Heath, Denmark, 1969
By Ditte Adrian Heath
Located in Utrecht, NL
This pair of armchairs from the “Series 186” is also known as the “Lufthavns-stole” (Airport chairs). The model was designed in 1969 for Cado Collection. The aluminium frame is without a doubt the most dominant feature of these chairs. The sturdy frame is injection-moulded and polished to resist tear and wear. The overall look, with the exposed bolts and material recalls the modern industrial style. This is softened by the padded seats and backs that are upholstered in black leather, completing the elegant, modern look. Functionality was evidently in the focus when designing the “186” series, which comprises of seven different parts that can be used in different combinations. The variety of modules enables them to fit into any space. These “Airport Chairs” are often claimed to be made by France & Son, however, in 1966 the company was sold to Poul Cadovius, thereafter known as Cado. Condition: In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Reupholstered with black leather. Each of our items can be re-upholstered by our in-house atelier in a fabric of choice. Dimensions: 25.39 in W x 30.90 in D x 29.72 in H; Seat Height 15.35 in 64,5 cm W x 78,5 cm D x 75,5 cm H ; Seat height 39 cm About the designer: Adrian Heath (1923-) is an architect who studied at The School of Architecture in London (1951) and was subsequently employed by Hvidt & Molgaard. Early Karin Mobring Model Cognac Leather Safari Lounge Chair Vintage Ikea, 1970s
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautiful design and amazing original condition chair. The design and the look and feel of this rare chair reminded me of what someone once taught me about good sculptures, "they look great from all angles". And what is particularly important for a chair, that it is very comfortable to sit in as well. Which it is. In this world people have very different thoughts about IKEA furniture and they are all right. Simply, because people all have different ideas about designs and quality and durabilty etc. The reality is that IKEA has never been bigger or more popular (worldwide) and especially some of the earlier design will be the antiques of the future. This rare, stylish and comfortable, midcentury modern chair from the early days of Swedish Ikea...

Set of 4 Galvanitas Oosterhout NV S16 Compass Chairs, Dutch Design, 1950s
By Galvanitas
Located in CULEMBORG, GE
For sale is a lovely set of four Galvanitas S16 Compass Chairs, arguably the most iconic school chair ever produced. The first to design with sheet metal was obviously Jean Prouve, but in The Netherlands the experiments with these classic compass leg subframes really exploded in the 1950s. Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld designed the similar looking Result Chair for Ahrend in the same period, but the S16 turned out to be the most successful —featuring in most schools and canteens of office- and government buildings. Made from a sheet steel frame with a fine laminated and formed seat and back by Pagholz, the iconic S16 Chair...

Crate Chair by Gerrit Rietveld, Designed in 1930s The Netherlands
By Cassina, Gerrit Rietveld
Located in Hellouw, NL
Nice Gerrit Rietveld 'Crate' chair. This chair is designed in 1934, however, we think this is a Cassina edition from the 1970s. This chair is made out of ash wood and has a colorless lacquer. 'Gerrit Rietveld designed the 'crate' series of furniture built from standardized pine boards – cheap material for packing crates – which were soon well-known as ‘crate furniture’. 'From 1935 on the progressive designs appeared at Metz & Co, where furniture by Rietveld had already been sold since 1930. The crate desk...
