Gerry Giliberti is a print-based photographic artist who uses graphics, photography, sculpture and digital imagery to create abstract, surrealistic images and constructions that bring the viewer into a new visual world. Having a classical bachelor of fine arts education including printmaking, photography, sculpture, oil and watercolor painting, illustration, etching, silk-screening and other specialized printmaking processes, including archival photographic processing techniques, Giliberti laid the foundation for his unique ability to see simple images among complex textures.

This rare Basquiat photograph was taken from Nicholas Taylor’s well-documented portfolio exploring his friendship with Jean-Michel Basquiat - a friendship which began when both collaborated on the historic New York No Wave band, “GRAY” in the late 1970s; before the two briefly lived together in the East Village. Selections from Taylor's portfolio were most notably exhibited as part of the Basquiat retrospective at London's Barbican in 2017 and have been featured in numerous noteworthy publications on Basquiat.

Nicholas Taylor (American, b. 1953) is a renowned photographer and musician. Taylor moved to New York in 1977 to pursue a career as a photographer and it was through the vibrant New York art scene that he came to know the young artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. It was, in fact, his intimate portfolio of photographs documenting his friendship with Basquiat that rocketed Taylor to fame. The two would collaborate in the No Wave band “Gray” before Taylor launched a successful career as a DJ famous for track-looping. His track “Suicide Mode” would later be used in the soundtrack for Julian Schnabel’s 1996 film “Basquiat."
Circa 1981, Basquiat payed homage to Taylor by incorporating "Nick Taylor" and "DJ High Priest" (a title anointed him by Basquiat) into two separate drawings. While everyone else in the downtown tries to take credit, it was in fact Taylor who first introduced Jean-Michel to Madonna - at the Mudd Club - the very place this one of a kind image was captured.

A fan of photography since her early childhood, Mizrakli graduated from Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Interior Decoration Department, and continued her higher education in London, where she started out her work as a photographer. Later on, she moved to New York to further develop her career as a photographer and enrolled in classes at the Photography Department of the New York Film Academy. She received a Master’s Degree in photography in Los Angeles, where she is currently based. Mizrakli has conducted many shooting sessions for Mica Studios and Bullet Magazine in New York and had two solo exhibitions in Los Angeles. She has recently participated in the Contemporary Istanbul Exhibition (November 2013).
In some of her black and white works she uses the human body only as a pictorial sign in order to create almost abstract works. Ion Zupcu writes: “The houses showcased in this series illustrate the spirit and evolution of common houses found throughout North American neighborhoods from the past four centuries. They represent a range of homes from Folk Houses to McMansions. The development of these styles is a reflection of our ever-changing taste and sensibility.
"The photographs in ‘American Homes’ are the result of my passion and investigation for architecture, structure, and light. My experience with three-dimensional forms has created a fluid transition into a deeper understanding of the history and design of American homes.
"Through a collaborative process, architectural models were carefully selected, designed, and constructed for these photographs with architect Tagore Hernandez. During the iterative processing beginning with detailed models, I became aware that what captivated me the most about domestic homes was their outline and form. Initial detail models were stripped down, recreated, and presented in a way that allowed their sculptural forms to emerge.
"All the houses are put on the stage before the public. These houses are not landmarks, they are icons of the places in which we sleep, eat, and raise our families. I have lived with my wife and daughter in a Shed Modern home for the past seven years in Upstate New York.”
Ion Zupcu first explored his interest in photography by working in a studio in Romania when he was a young man. A few years later, after getting married and having his first child, Zupcu found himself spending long hours caring for his daughter. With a desire to continue pursuing his interest in photography, he began shooting still-life compositions at home with vases and flowers. It was during this time that he also began researching the work of early 20th-century Modernist photographers in depth, which ultimately influenced his aesthetic a great deal.
