Powerful yet restrained, each piece is unique and lovingly hand-crafted in Neal Aronowitz' Portland, Oregon studio. The stone has a rich patina with the subtle figuring and eternal character of stone. The open angular shelf holds books and magazines. As a side or end table it serves as functional furniture and blurs the distinction between art and craft.

The table is made from the finest flame mahogany & having two drop leaves with curved skirts that are supported by butterfly bracket supports, the table having a deeply carved turned baluster shaped pedestal with four curved legs. Both the pedestal & legs are deeply carved with acanthus leaf decoration, each leg terminates to a substantial lion's paw foot and each is raised on the original brass castor.
This is a period table from the first quarter of the 1800s not a later revival piece from the late 1800s. Some Empire furniture can be heavy & bulky, this table is very elegant and displays the skill of the early 19th century...
