Fernando Salicrup was born in New York City in 1946, though he traveled between Puerto Rico and the United States throughout his childhood. He is a painter and printmaker, known for his work in experimental digital methods.
After serving in the military, he returned to study art at the Philadelphia Academy of Art. He also won a scholarship to study at the New York School of Visual Arts, where he studied painting under Chuck Close, and printmaking under Robert Blackburn.
