The handcrafted cocktail brooch appears as stylised feathers which have been accented with spines of brilliant cut rubies and semi modern brilliant cut diamonds. The 30 semi modern brilliant cut diamonds are of G/H colour and SI clarity totalling 1.20 carat while the 26 rubies total 6.50 carat. The spray brooch pin sweeps down and pins in place with a hinged twin pin and tube type clasp. This rather beautiful Art Deco ring was made in France likely in the 1930s and features Old European cut and rose cut diamonds all set in a handmade platinum mount. The central diamond in the ring is a millegrain set Old European cut stone of G colour and VS clarity weighing an approximate 0.70 carat. Flanking this central stone are two further Old European cut diamonds which each weigh 0.15 carat and are each of G colour and SI clarity. The balance of the diamonds in the ring are rose cut stones which are each of G colour and SI clarity, and combined with the three larger stones have a weight of 1.14 carat. The back of the rear of the shank is hallmarked with a French platinum purity mark and a rubbed, unidentified makers mark.

Crafted from 14 karat yellow gold the lorgnette is extremely simple in its design and is virtually void of ornamentation with the exception of some fine scrollwork around the lens casing. The lenses that are currently fitted are likely original, and whilst in-tact do have some abrasions to the surface of the glass. The piece is marked internally for 14 karat gold and also has a makers mark in the form of a Maltese cross inside a circle, which is currently unidentified. In good condition the piece only has some minor dents to the gold which are commensurate with age. Once a very frequently used object, this wondrous lorgnette would be a beautiful pendant on a long chain for someone wanting a piece of gold...

ABOUT THE BRAND
Once shrouded in mystery, the story of Ohliguer emerged from the not-too-distant past. A great grandmother married to the last Tsars cousin, presented to King George V, King Edward VII, Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra and regularly dined with the infamous Rasputin. Her father supplied jewels the size of reptilian eggs from his mines in the Ural Mountains to the royal family and the most renowned Russian jewellers. She fled the empire at the height of the revolution with her treasured newborn daughter hidden in a wicker basket.
The jewels of renowned craftsmen including Faberge, once worn as she glittered across Russian and European palaces were concealed, woven intricately into her undergarments. Their journey took them a world away to Shanghai where a new name and birth certificate ensured obscurity, distancing them from the terrors of the fall of the Russian empire. However, it would not be until years later after pirates, wars and insurmountable loss, that they would settle in Australia. Never to talk of their past, until their granddaughter's discovered what they had buried.
