Vintage Harry Winston 2.02 Carat Diamond Engagement Ring GIA, circa 1980s
By Harry Winston
Located in Simpsonville, SC
Elevate your love story with this extraordinary Vintage Harry Winston Diamond Engagement Ring, a true testament to the timeless allure of one of the world's most prestigious jewelers. Crafted in the 1980s, this piece features a stunning 2.02 carat round brilliant cut diamond of impeccable quality, exuding the enduring elegance and craftsmanship synonymous with the Harry Winston legacy. At the heart of this exquisite ring is a resplendent 2.02 carat round diamond, certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as an E color with a VS1 clarity. This exceptional diamond, with its brilliant white hue and remarkable clarity, is a testament to Harry Winston's commitment to sourcing only the most exceptional stones. Flanking the center diamond are six tapered baguette diamonds, 0.74 carats total diamond weight, each meticulously selected to complement and enhance the brilliance of the centerpiece. These side stones add a touch of sophistication and symmetry, creating a balanced and harmonious design. The classic round brilliant-cut center diamond, paired with the geometric precision of the baguette side stones, epitomizes the enduring elegance that defines Harry Winston's creations. The ring's design is a celebration of clean lines, symmetry, and a commitment to showcasing the inherent beauty of the diamonds. Lastly, the hallmark of a Harry Winston setting lies in its gracefully curved prongs. Crafted in the finest platinum, these prongs are meticulously fashioned to create an elegant embrace around the diamond. Instead of the more traditional single prong per side, this setting features two prongs on each corner of the center stone. This double prong design not only offers additional security for the diamond, but it also adds a distinctive touch of refinement to the overall aesthetic that is a signature element of Harry Winston rings. This vintage Harry Winston engagement...

Church at Chichicastenango
By Jesse F. Reed
Located in Myrtle Beach, SC
Jesse F. Reed, 'Church at Chichicastenango', color etching and aquatint, 1963. Signed and titled in pencil. Signed and dated in the plate, lower right. A fine, richly-inked impression, with fresh colors, on cream wove paper; the full sheet with margins (1 3/8 to 2 1/2 inches), in excellent condition. Chichicastenango, also known as Santo Tomás Chichicastenango, is a town in the El Quiché department of Guatemala, located in a mountainous region about 140 km northwest of Guatemala City. Chichicastenango is a K'iche' Maya cultural center, with the great majority of the municipality's population indigenous Mayan K'iche. The church depicted is the 400-year-old church Iglesia de Santo Tomás. Built atop a Pre-Columbian temple platform, the steps which remain venerated today, originally led to a temple of the pre-Hispanic Maya civilization. K'iche' Maya priests still use the church for their rituals, burning incense and candles. Each of the 18 stairs that lead up to the church stands for one month of the Maya calendar year. ABOUT THE ARTIST Jesse Floyd Reed (1920-2011) studied art in New York City at the Grand Central School of Art and the Art Students’ League. He held degrees in History and English and completed special advance studies in Asian, African, and Latin American art, history and culture. At the time of his retirement, he was a Professor of the Arts Emeritus at Davis & Elkins College, a position he held for over forty-nine years. A nationally recognized artist since 1947, Professor Reed’s art has been shown in hundreds of museums, libraries, colleges, and universities, including the Boston Museum, National Museum, The Library of Congress, Brooklyn Museum, and Seattle Museum. In his native West Virginia, he is represented in the permanent collections of the Huntington Museum and the Charleston Museum at Sunrise. The recipient of many national and regional awards, Reed was a member of the Salmagundi Club in NY, the Boston Printmakers, the Print Club of Albany, and was a founding member of the West Virginia Water...

Madman s Drum (Brothel) — Story Without Words Graphic Modernism
By Lynd Ward
Located in Myrtle Beach, SC
Lynd Ward, 'Madman's Drum, Plate 41', wood engraving, 1930, edition small. Signed in pencil. A fine, richly-inked impression, on off-white tissue-thin Japan paper; the full sheet with margins (1 5/8 to 2 1/2 inches); a small paper blemish in the upper right margin, away from the image, otherwise in excellent condition. A scarce, artist-printed, hand-signed proof impression before the published edition. Matted to museum standards, unframed. Image size 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches (140 x 95 mm); sheet size 9 5/8 x 7 1/8 inches (244 x 181 mm). From Lynd Ward’s book of illustrations without words, 'Madman’s Drum', Jonathan Cape and Harrison Smith, New York, 1930. Reproduced in 'Storyteller Without Words, the Wood Engravings of Lynd Ward', Harry N. Abrams, New York, 1974. ABOUT THE ARTIST Lynd Ward is acknowledged as one of America’s foremost wood engravers and book illustrators of the first half of the twentieth century. His innovative use of narrative printmaking as a stand-alone storytelling vehicle was uniquely successful in reaching a broad audience. The powerful psychological intensity of his work, celebrated for its dynamic design, technical precision, and compelling dramatic content, finds resonance in the literature of Poe, Melville, and Hawthorne. Like these classic American writers, Ward was concerned with the themes of man’s inner struggles and the role of the subconscious in determining his destiny. An artist of social conscience during the Great Depression and World War II, he infused his graphic images with his unique brand of social realism, deftly portraying the problems that challenged the ideals of American society. The son of a Methodist preacher, Lynd Ward, moved from Chicago to Massachusetts at an early age. He graduated from the Teachers College of Columbia University, New York, in 1926, where he studied illustration and graphic arts. He married May Yonge McNeer in 1936 and left for Europe for their honeymoon in Eastern Europe. After four months, they settled in Leipzig, where Ward studied at the National Academy of Graphic Arts and Bookmaking. Inspired by Belgian expressionist artist Frans Masereel's graphic novel ‘The Sun,’ and another graphic novel by the German artist Otto Nückel, ‘Destiny,’ he determined to create his own "wordless" novel. Upon his return to America, Ward completed his first book, ‘God's Man: A Novel in Woodcuts,’ published in 1929. ‘Gods’ Man’ was a great success for its author and publisher and was reprinted four times in 1930, including a British edition. This book and several which followed it, ‘Madman’s Drum,’ 1930, ‘Wild Pilgrimage...
