Madonna - London 1984 (Limited Edition of 25) - Contemporary
Located in New York, NY
This studio portrait of Madonna was taken at Holborn Studios, London in 1984 by UK celebrity photographer, Brian Aris. The photograph was then painted on using golden glitter to create the “Pop Art” touch by Brian’s wife Linda Aris. It is signed on the border by Brian Aris. It is a limited-edition, number 5/25. Artist bio: Brian Aris in the 1970’s began his photographic career as a photojournalist. Over nine years a series of frontline assignments took him around the world. He then decided on a complete change of direction and opened a studio in London where he started photographing fashion and glamour models, as well as stars of the music industry for newspapers and magazines. He broadened his studio work to include pop and rock stars such as Blondie, The Rolling Stones, The Jam, The Clash, The Boomtown Rats, Roxy Music and The Police. During the next two decades he covered every aspect of the music scene from punk rock, glam’ rock and straight rock ‘n’ roll from the Rolling Stones right through to the emergence of the boy bands and then the girl power that arrived with The Spice Girls...

Leonore (Montpelier, VT)
By Frances F. Denny
Located in New York, NY
Archival pigment print (Edition of 5 + 2 APs) Signed and numbered on label, verso This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Frances F. Denny writes: “During the research process for a prior series of photographs, I discovered two related facts about my family tree: a) Mary Bliss Parsons, my 8th great-grandmother, was accused of witchcraft in 1674 in Northampton, Massachusetts, and b) less than two decades later in 1692, my 10th great-grandfather, Samuel Sewell, presided as a judge in the Salem Witch Trials. One body of work came and went, but this ancestral coincidence stayed with me. What is a witch? Who does that word belong to—now? “Major Arcana: Witches in America is a collection of portraits of women from across the United States who identify as witches. As early as 15th-century Europe, people condemned as witches faced a cruel fate: torture, and in many cases, death. Yet despite its history, recent decades have seen a reclaiming of the word ‘witch.’ In the mid-20th century, emerging pagan communities in the United States and Europe began embracing the term, and since then, ‘witch’ has been adopted by a diverse group of people. “Major Arcana explores the various ways the notion of witch-ness belongs to those who claim it, representing the witch as a self-sought identity that both empowers and politicizes its bearer. Each woman photographed for Major Arcana (including genderfluid and trans individuals) pursues a form of witchcraft, whether aligned with a religion (like Wicca or Voudou) or a self-defined practice. No two individuals inhabit the term ‘witch’ in quite the same way, but many consider themselves pagan, and engage in a diversity of traditions, including: mysticism, engagement with the occult, politically-oriented activism, polytheism, ritualized ‘spell-craft,’ and plant-based healing. Among those included in the series are self-proclaimed green witches, white witches, kitchen witches...

Located in Toronto, Ontario
"The Great Pyramid of Manhattan" is a color photograph on Etching Rag archival paper. It's a signed Edition of 20, available in sizes 16x24, 11x17 and 8x12 inches. It is a striking composition, and typical of the artist there are only a few elements at play but they are powerfully at play. The hard line geometry of a pyramid, the black and silver-white shard against the deep blue sky create a dominating form. Shooting on the streets of New York, looking up and looking for often-missed city/sky collisions, Bob...

Tug of War
By Luke Smalley
Located in New York, NY
Digital C-print Stamped and numbered, verso 20 x 24 inches (Edition of 10) 30 x 40 inches (Edition of 5) 50 x 60 inches (Edition of 3) This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Luke Smalley was an American artist known for his photographic work, which pairs a coolly minimalist aesthetic with a retro nostalgia. Images from his early in his career were inspired by fitness manuals and yearbooks c. 1910. This is not surprising since Smalley graduated with a degree in sports medicine from Pepperdine University and worked for a number of years as a model and personal trainer. Smalley shot the bulk of his photographs in his home state of Pennsylvania, using real high school athletes as models. “Exercise at Home” is Luke Smalley’s second major body of work. Shot in and around the tiny Pennsylvania town the artist called home, Smalley revisits themes of adolescent growing pains acted out under the guise of earnest athleticism. Teenagers engage in simple yet strange competitions meant to establish their standings amongst one another. Two youths practice boating safety procedures on a small craft that happens to be indoors. Another pair have a psychological game of tug of war...
