Edition size - 225, plus proofs Year - 1977 About the artist- Yona Lotan (1926-1998) Jewish engineer and painter was born in Lithuania. His family moved to Tel-Aviv, Palestine in 1936. He served as a high-ranking officer in the Israeli Army and fought in the War of Independence. In 1959 Yona Lotan began painting; he's considered a self-taught, outsider artist. His art was vibrant and he became well known, not only in Europe, but also in the United States. In 1965 he won the coveted Prize of Foreign Painting given by the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Along with Maryan, Avigdor Arikha, Mordechai Ardon and Yaacov Agam. he was part of a group of Jewish emigre artists who worked in Paris.
