Chloe by Karl Lagerfeld Silk Crepe and Net Edwardian Ensemble from the late 1970's. The ensemble is composed of a floor length gown and overskirt. Both are of nude silk crepe and net with Schiffli lace trim. When worn together, they appear to one piece but they are actually 2. The dress has a net yoke with lace trim, exaggerated puff sleeves and tiny pin tucks down the front. The silk crepe ends above the knee and there, is attached to a full circular sweep of netting with lace trim. The overskirt is of same nude silk crepe and the same netting and it ends at exactly at the same level as the dress so there are 2 layers below the waist when worn. There is again that deep net border so a very full semi sheer flounce is created below the knee. The skirt is has pin tucks along the hips to reinforce the matching pin tucks on the dress bodice. There are a series of elegant covered buttons on each side with long ties which form self bows. Lagerfeld references historical dress in this innocent yet sexy 1970's gown. Edwardian overtones are evident with the pin ticks, puff sleeves and net inserts. Also referenced is the Weiner Werkstatte in the dramatic cut and detailing.
