Magis Proust LowChair in White by Alessandro Mendini
By Magis, Alessandro Mendini
Located in Brooklyn, NY
“I think many people will already know my “Proust armchair”. It is a romantic, baroque chair, on which an endless number of multi-coloured dots are hand-paint- ed using the pointillism technique. These dots cover the whole armchair, both the fabric and the wooden decorations.
It’ s a re-design work. It is, in fact, a combination of a mock-antique armchair with a detail from a painting of a garden by French artist Signac. From 1978 onwards, the “Proust armchair” was produced in many versions, using different colours, ma- terials and dimensions, and was even made of ceramics and bronze. It travelled all around the world and was hosted in many museums.
But now some truly revolutionary news, as a paradox comes true: the “Proust armchair” has now been transformed into an industrial rotational-moulded piece. Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you “ Magis Proust...

Pair Ebonized Italian 1890s Era Carved Gilded Dolphin Neoclassical Armchairs
Located in Swedesboro, NJ
This exceptional pair of Italian neoclassical armchairs, dating from the 1890s, showcases the refined artistry and bold decorative flourishes of late 19th-century craftsmanship. Each chair is ebonized to a deep, lustrous black, providing a dramatic contrast to the richly carved and gilded details. The standout feature is the magnificent dolphin motif: the gilded dolphin arms curve gracefully forward, their finely carved heads forming the armrests, while additional gilt accents highlight the neoclassical sensibility. The splat features mythological dolphin carvings framed with gilt decoration, reinforcing their commanding presence.
Upholstered in a rich plum-toned velvet, the seats provide both comfort and an added layer of opulence. The combination of ebonized frames, gilt carvings, and jewel-like upholstery makes these armchairs versatile statement pieces. They fit effortlessly into traditional antique settings, elevate Hollywood Regency interiors with glamour and theatricality, and even contrast beautifully against streamlined mid-century modern design.
Rare and dramatic, this pair of carved gilded dolphin armchairs...

Set of 6 Channel-Tufted Post-Modern Dining Chairs by Finesse, 1970s, Signed
By Steve Chase
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An intriguing and rare set of six vintage dining chairs by Finesse Furniture Ltd., comprised of four side chairs and two armchairs (also known as captain’s chairs). These sculptural, channel-tufted chairs exemplify 1970s Postmodern glamour and offer strong visual appeal with their plush, modular upholstery and cantilevered brass bases. The label from Finesse Furniture Ltd is intact and present on five of the six of the chairs.
The distinct silhouette of these chairs defined by stacked, contoured cushions and bold lines recalls the maximalist interiors popularized by designers like Steve Chase, while their construction and proportions also nod to the Art Deco revival and Hollywood Regency influences of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The unique design invites creative reupholstery: each channel-tufted section could be re-covered in contrasting tones or textures for a highly personalized, expressive look. These chairs would pair beautifully with a high-gloss lacquered or burl wood dining table, or a round glass or travertine-top table for a more eclectic aesthetic.
This sculptural set of dining chairs by Finesse Furniture Ltd would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, or Hollywood Regency interior, but could also add a splash of glam to a Contemporary, Transitional, or even Art Deco inspired home or penthouse apartment. Also consider mixing them in with a Traditional or Minimalist space for a bold juxtaposition. Ideal for a commercial project such as a hotel dining room, members club, or design studio showroom. Consider using as dining chairs, cafe or breakfast table chairs, side chairs, conference or meeting room chairs...

Pair French Late 19th century Louis xv Style carved gold gilt armchairs
Located in Swedesboro, NJ
This outstanding pair of French Louis XV armchairs, dating from the 19th century, represents the epitome of Rococo luxury and craftsmanship. Each fauteuil is richly gilded with hand-carved details, highlighting the exquisite asymmetrical scrolls, floral motifs, and cabriole legs that define the Louis XV style. The frames feature a warm, time-softened gilding that enhances their antique character, making them both elegant and authentic.
The chairs retain their original damask upholstery in a muted rose-salmon hue, decorated with intricate floral patterns. The padded backs, arms, and generously proportioned seats ensure both comfort and sophistication. The scrolling arms with upholstered rests and the dramatic crests carved with rocaille flourishes reflect the refined artistry of 19th-century French furniture makers.
Perfect as statement accent chairs, formal salon seating, or luxurious additions to a period-inspired interior, these armchairs embody the grandeur of the French aristocratic tradition. Their gilded presence works beautifully in both traditional and eclectic spaces, where they can serve as decorative focal points.
Collectors, interior designers, and connoisseurs will appreciate the balance of historical authenticity, rich gilded surfaces, and enduring elegance. This pair of 19th-century Louis XV gilt...

Vintage Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Mogens Kold Teak Lounge Chair-Denmark, 1960s
By Arne Hovmand-Olsen, Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik
Located in Brooklyn, NY
A lovely and dynamically-proportioned lounge or easy chair attributed to Arne Hovmand-Olsen and manufactured by Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik (metal manufacturer's stamp to underside) in sculpted teak and original boucle wool upholstery. Deeply patinated teak lends visual contrast against the off-white upholstery. Completely original condition down the the seat straps and brass hardware. Sophisticated seat cushion and backrest mounting system consisting of custom brass spacers which create a suspended effect to the panels keeping the design very airy and light.
Hovmand-Olsen’s designs span seating, tables, and secretaries, all of which are characteristically simple in form with clean lines, organic curves, and tapered legs. Like many of his Danish contemporaries, he favored the use of high-quality, beautifully grained woods like teak and rosewood. Notable designs include his Model 175 chair (1955)—which is often mistaken for N.O. Møller’s Model 77 chair...
