A Chair Inspired Balenciaga's Latest Shoe Collection
This will no doubt be the most interesting thing you read all day. I know that’s a big call, but when I found this out, it was a nice reminder that inspiration is absolutely anywhere and everywhere. The influence and creativity of Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga, cannot be underestimated—it’s undeniable that he has a way of reimagining the ordinary and making us look at fashion differently. Take for example, what the designer has done with his label Vetements—almost everything is an appopriation, turning the everyday into covetable luxury.
On a recent back-and-forth email with a Sydney fashion PR, I was alerted to the fact that the Balenciaga Bistrot Boots ($1475) are inspired by the chair legs on almost every café on the street of Paris. Talk about turning the mundane into something really interesting.
Keep scrolling to take a peek at the boots, and the inspiration.
