As a brand, Birkenstock is no stranger to designer collaborations. Over the years, the footwear label has partnered with the likes of Valentino, Rick Owens and more, to create special edition iterations of its instantly-recognizable sandals.
Of course, this summer is no different as Birkenstock recently launched a collaboration collection in partnership with buzzy, New York-based brand Proenza Schouler. Taking Birkenstocks' signature two-strap silhouette, the designers added contrast top-stitching to the sandals and released the footwear in a range of colours including black, white, silver and yellow.
Unsurprisingly, the item has already caught the attention of celebrities and influencers worldwide, as the shoe has been worn by Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and more throughout the summer.
When it comes to styling, several It-girls are opting for the Alexa look, by pairing the shoe alongside socks, while in warmer parts of the world, the footwear is being worn alongside swimsuit and linen shirts for beachside strolls. As the shoes have already sold out on a few websites, it's clear the Proenza Schouler x Birkenstock collaboration has been another success for the footwear label.
