Data Says This Will Be the Brand Everyone Wants to Buy in 2018
For the past couple of years, Gucci has dominated everything fashion. From red carpets to Instagram feeds, the label, under the direction of Alessandro Michele, has had something of a resurgence and pioneered a new way of dressing. Sure, we'll always have minimalism and simplicity, but Gucci has encouraged us to step away from that, and into a more playful spectrum. What has Gucci proved over the last few years? It has staying power. And while at first, fashion commentators predicted it would be a 'trend', and we'd all move on, the Gucci phenomenon feels like it's set in for good.
And now, a report conducted by Business of Fashion and Lyst, suggests that Spanish label Balenciaga is set to have its own second-coming next year, under the relatively new creative direction of Demna Gvasalia. The report puts it down to the label's updated logo, residency at French fashion retailer Colette, and Gvasalia's ability to continuously push the fashion narrative forward, and create unexpected pieces that cause pandemonium (like these sneakers that can't stay in stock).
If the most recent fashion weeks are anything to go by, where so many street style goers were repping the brand, we predict this is only the beginning of Balenciaga 2.0. Get ready.
