"Antique Gold/White " T4RK9, Abstract, 21st Century, Acrylic, Clay
Located in Dessau-Rosslau, Sachsen Anhalt
Artist: Roger König b. Dessau, Germany (1968) Master student of Kurt Schönburg, HWK Halle, Germany. König combines modern painting with acrylic with old techniques and in this way, he connects contemporary art with tradition. The natural clay color bestows the pictures with a completely special dim texture which stands in an exciting contrast with the delicate luster of the acrylic color. The features of the clay color allow a more intensive treatment of the surface. Often, there are lines, scratches or breaks in the surface, as if the canvas had been covered with a fair patina. More subtle strokes in the color bring graphic characters to mind, color gradients natural phenomena, divided canvasses the contrast which is immanent in everything: the principle of yin and yan. Roger König's works are in private collections worldwide. His admirers include leading figures in international business, film and media. John Leopard (1800-1883) Pottery Rusk County Henderson Texas Pottery (1850-1883) 5 or 6 Gallon Ovoid East Texas Churn 18 inches tall 11 inches at widest point Utilitarian John Leopard (1800-1883) Pottery Rusk County Henderson Texas Pottery (1850-1883) One natural resource found in Rusk County provided an abundance of raw material for the development of industry in the county. When pioneers arrived in Rusk County in the early 1800's, they found a variety of clays suitable for brick making, tiles, statuary and pottery. Pottery making is one of the world's oldest crafts, with examples of pottery traced back as far as the 7th century BC. Amongst the earliest finds are artistic figures, images of people and animals, and household implements including breakers and dishes. Anthropologists often use the techniques and patterns found in ancient burial sites to form an accurate picture of society through the ages. Earthenware (jugs, churns, and vessels of all kinds) made in Rusk County found a ready market. Some of the early potters were Brown, Leopard, Rushton, Prothro and Russell. Many of Henderson's downtown buildings were made from bricks baked in the kiln of the Howard Brothers...

Lapis 270 - white 3D abstract floral geometric ceramic wall composition
Located in New York, NY
Marie Laforey is a self-taught artist based in New York, US who maintains a sustainable art practice using primarily organic material. Laforey enjoys the tactility of working with organic mediums and learning how to craft preserved moss, clay, feathers and other natural elements into beautiful abstract compositions. Primarily inspired by nature, repetition, patterns, texture and geometry are essential elements that are omnipresent in her works. About Lapis and Flos series: Laforey recent ceramic works are unique pieces that alter in patterns to give an illusion of movement and depth by using clay’s potential for building sculptural dimension. The repetitive use of a unique element, the circle is centered to her work. The circle has often been associated with the female and to Mother Earth. It has no beginning and no end, it is the whole, the essence of things. It symbolizes the ongoing energy found in nature. Laforey’s Lapis mural ceramic series...
