A fine abstract expressionist paper construction by American artist Varujan Boghosian (1926-2020). Boghosian was born in New Britain, CT and after serving in the United States Navy, he attended Central Connecticut Teachers College and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. In 1953, he had a Fulbright grant to paint in Italy, and from 1956 to 1959, he worked with Josef Albers, geometric abstractionist, at Yale University where he earned both his BFA and MFA. Boghosian became a professor of sculpture at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and became primarily known for his assemblages in which he uses a variety of incongruous objects such as parts of weathered barn doors, antique dolls' heads, old leather, marbles, and ping-pong balls. This construction consists of a cut-out of a horse, a celestial map, several small animal figures, with a yellow brick wall paper background, monogrammed lower right “VB,” signed, dated 2002, and titled on verso “The Great...

María Noël was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 25th, 1965. She studied Fine Arts at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón Higher School of Fine Arts, in Buenos Aires. She also studied philosophy and art history at the Philosophy and Literature School of the University of Buenos Aires. She was a regular student with prestigious Argentine artists Aurelio Macchi, Alberto Delmonte and Luis Barragán, who all left the deepest imprint. A tireless traveler, she has visited countries in the East and the West. In 1989-1990 she lived in Naples (Italy) and Milan. During a stay in Cairo in 1990, she learned techniques for paper manufacturing and the use of vegetable dyes. A daughter and a granddaughter of Argentinian writers, literature is a main character in her work. She has series of paintings and collages dedicated to J. L. Borges, Octavio Paz, Juan de la Cruz, Paul Valery and Fernando Pessoa...

Tony Scherman (b. 1950) is one of the most collected and cherished Canadian artists.
He is renowned internationally for his work, typically executed in the highly temperamental medium of encaustic, which is a wax-based paint equivalent.
Scherman's moody palette and sumptuous portraits (whether contemporary, historical or allegorical) reference a range of masters, including Goya and Manet, yet his works are visceral and contemporary. Scherman's allusions to both history, and the history of visual art, are constants in his oeuvre.
