An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export silver box; an addition to our collection of Chinese silverware.
This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) box has a plain rectangular form.
The surface of the body is encompassed with exceptional chased oriental Chinese dragon designs amidst clouds, all on a matte background; each panel bears a plain and unembellished border.
This antique silver box is fitted with a hinged silver cover, bearing a continuation of cloud ornamentation to the side panels.
The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with two further dragon designs accented with impressive emanating whiskers, incorporating a circular vacant cartouche to the centre.
By virtue of its size this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions.
The box features a solid silver base which is plain and unembellished, apart from the feature hallmarks; a solid silver base is a sign of quality.

A wonderful sporting horse portrait by Alfred Wheeler of the racehorse Diamond Jubilee with Jockey Up. A bay stallion is depicted standing side on in a landscape, most likely Newmarket Heath, with another racehorse and jockey in the distance. The horse’s head is slightly turned towards the viewer to reveal a white diamond shape mark on his forehead running into a line down his face. This is a good oval shaped serving dish or bowl, made by the Derby factory, hand painted and gilded in a free flowing floral pattern, during the reign of George 111 in the early 19th century, circa 1815.
This is a well potted oval shaped dish or bowl with a vertically fluted and moulded side edge and rim, sitting on a low foot.
The piece is beautifully hand decorated in a free flowing manner, in one of Derby's Imari style floral Patterns, with enamels of cobalt blue, burnt orange, pink and yellow, all in varying shades. It has then been hand gilded, with gold detail to some of the flowers, blue leaf, the inner border and the outer rim.

An Extremely Good Quality, Mid-18th Century, George II Period Solid Mahogany Oval Drop Leaf Dining Table, To Seat 8 People, Having Extremely Well Figured Two Flap Top Retaining Exceptional, Rich, Untouched Colour And Patina, Raised On Four Elegant Turned Legs Terminating With Original Pad Feet.
Georgian drop leaf dining tables of this design are relatively common to find, however it is rare to find one of this size and in this condition, which retains such a fabulous colour and patina. It is also quite nice to find an oval one, which is not far off being circular when extended.
This is a superb example of its type, constructed from what would have been the absolute best solid mahogany available in the mid 18th century and because of that the table is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. It is particularly solid even with the moving legs fully extended and this allows for great functionality.
Of course another tick on the desirability scale for this table is that it can be easily folded down and even pushed against a wall, or into a corner when not in full use, meaning one does not require such a large dining room as may otherwise have been required. The table also retains a fabulous untouched colour and patina and has very clearly not ever been stripped and repolished or anything like that.
