Henry Joseph Campotosto (Belgium, 1833-1910) A Very Fine Oil on Canvas "Walking the Baby Goat", depicting two young dutch girls by the grassy shore of a river bank, one standing holding a wicker basket and a leash to a resting baby goat, the youngest sitting next to her on a pile of branches tucking her pants, a pair of ducks and ducklings swimming by the tree lined river; within a later giltwood carved frame. Signed (l/r): Campotosto Henry. Circa: Brussels, 1870.
Note: The artist is also known as Henri Campotosto
Henry or Henri Campotosto was born in Brussels in 1833. He studied in Brussels at the Royal Academy des Beaux-Arts and painted some artworks with Eugène Verboeckhoven (Belgium, 1798-1881). He received a 1st Class Medal at the Academy of Brussels and an honorable mention at the Paris Exhibition of 1860. In 1871 he moved to London with his family and remained there for life. He exhibited his work at the Royal Academy Exhibition until 1874 and at the Suffolk Street Gallery from 1878. In 1880 he took part in the Berlin Academy Exhibition. His daughter Octavia also became a painter, visited Italy, and showed her paintings at the Royal Academy from 1871 to 1874. Henri Campotosto died in London in 1910.

Stunning and masterfully created abstract oil painting by French artist Bertrand Dorny (1931-2015) circa 1963. He lives in the rich world of color and shapes that are constantly moving.
Dorny’s colors are occasionally in subtle dialogue with nature and are one of several devices that make his visual language accessible to us.
He worked at the ‘Ateliers’ of André Lhote and Johnny Friedlaender. He built his work by deriving accepted techniques such as engraving, collage or folding paper to achieve a personal style in addition to his early paintings.
He also taught at the Ecole de la Grande Chaumiere and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
The themes of the walk, the progressing path, the network of forms in space are at the center of his work.
There are many lithographs of his work but rare to find such a pristine oil painting. He's definitely a 20th century artist whose work is under the radar.
Provenance: Estate of Roger Prigent - Malmaison.
Colors may vary due to room lighting. It is found in an original period aluminum frame.

John Galliano
Known for introducing rich theatricality and memorable fashion spectacles to the runway, John Galliano has enjoyed a singular career. The audacious British designer has garnered universal acclaim for genre-breaking collections not only at his eponymous label but also for Givenchy and Christian Dior. From his embroidered absinthe-green Oscars gown for actress Nicole Kidman to the iconic sleeveless newspaper-print dress that Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw made famous, Galliano’s intricate and multifaceted work is reliably newsworthy, drawing on history as often as it embodies a fresh and forward-looking sensibility, and over the years the designer has helped shape an ever-broadening new legion of enthusiasts for Parisian couture.Born in Gibraltar but raised in South London by strict Roman Catholic working-class parents, Galliano attended the all-boys Church of England grammar school, where his flamboyance and interest in art attracted the attention of bullies. It is typically worn by the Wodaabe, a nomadic cattle-herder subgroup of the Fulani.
