It is comprised of gorgeous walnut with stunning wood grain and features wonderful, cut out sculpted slats across the front of headboard and a lower stretcher. You’ll just need a Hollywood frame to complete it OR hang it on the wall! Modern box springs & mattresses are taller than they used to be and it’s a fabulous way to show off the headboard! It is going to add just the right splash of mid-century modern magnificence to any bedroom in your home where you will be sure to sleep in stylish splendor. Kipp Stewart, a celebrated American designer, born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania did not lead a charmed childhood. Sent to California to live with distant relatives at a young age, you could call him a self-made man. His furniture designing fate was sealed at 15 when hitchhiking to school he passed a storefront shop and studio on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles with pencil industrial drawings in the windows and fell in love with them. Kipp worked hard, turning down a track and field scholarship at USC and instead enrolled at Chouinard Art Institute in the late 1940s. Again, he worked very hard days and nights becoming a renowned artist, architect, and award-winning designer. He currently resides in Carmel, California and is still painting. Alexander Stewart Orton MacDougall was born in the late 1920s in Pasadena and grew up in a Green and Green house which he credits for his fascination and love of design. Judged early with a learning disability which he obviously overcame, Stewart attended Chouinard Art Institute after a short time in the Navy. He then went to work for Victor Gruen and Associates where he met his mentor Rudolf Baumfeld who had studied under Le Courbusier...

Fabulous pair of midcentury Hollywood Regency hand gilded gold plaster large scale figural lamps boy with drinking jug and original slightly tapered gold leafed or gilded drum shades in the style of Marbro Lamp Company. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Both have been rewired with new cords and sockets. The base of one lamp has been patched, repaired, and re-gold leafed. The shades are a bit age worn with some creases, dents, & tears, but still look so fabulous on these lamps we had to leave them. Just two young boys, probably best friends, or brothers, hanging out in the hot summer sun sipping on a jug of… (well, we can’t be EXACTLY sure what they’re sipping on, but we’re going with water!) Although, they are both missing one shoe so who knows? Ha-ha… Just kidding, these boys are well-behaved!! This is a fantastic pair of hand gilded plaster figural lamps of a boy drinking from a water jug in the style of Marbro. One lamp actually has “O. Art Co” carved into the base but throughout extensive research we were unable to find any information about them; however, we have seen identical lamps marked Marbro, though ours are not marked as such. Either way, they are FABULOUS!!! And as similar as they are, we have found a few slight differences and since we know they were made from a mold we think maybe they each had a different individual artist that gave them their finishing touches. If you look closely one boy has something coming from the spout of his jug and the other does not, the rocks or gravel on the ground of one base is a bit raised and the other is flatter, the drinking jug details differ, and the pant legs are slightly different. And those are just a few what we have found. And as fabulous as the lamps are, we also ADORE the original aged gold leaf slightly tapered drum shades!! They are slightly different in color as one has a bit darker hue and silver inner shade, and the other inner shade is gold. They definitely have an aged all over patina, both on the bodies of the lamps and the shades, which we think is what makes them even more wonderful! These lamps are hand gilded, and the boy alone stands at 24 inches, so they are definitely large scale! Almost like having a couple of actual toddlers around! But not really… these guys are much quieter and won’t be making a mess in whatever room you leave them! LOL! These incredible lamps certainly bear a whimsical aura, and they are ready to fill your home with joy, character, and an Ambience full of vintage Hollywood Regency awesome-ness! The Marbro Lamp Company was established in 1934, shortly after World War II by Morris Markoff and his brother Elliot in Los Angeles, California. They were one of the finest lamp producers during the mid-1900s and mainly sold in a handful of shops. Marbro lamps were one of a kind and some took up to ninety days to complete. They were occasionally made from sculptures customers would bring to the shop and others from vases and objects d’art from all over the world. They employed highly skilled wood turners and lamp shade makers. They would make occasional sculptures and decorative objects, but they were best known for their creative and high-quality table lamps. The Masco Corporation acquired Marbro Lamp Company in 1987 and their Los Angeles plant closed its doors in 1990. This perfectly imperfect pair of hand gilded figural boy lamps...

Magnificent Early 21st Century Organic Modern custom built conference or dining table with a natural walnut top & black powder coated steel tube base with walnut insert by Matthew Jarmer. Is there anything as wondrous as being Au Naturel??? When it comes to something as ravishing as this natural walnut table… we think NOT!!! That’s right, this is an enchanting natural walnut conference or dining table with a handsome black powder coated steel tube base featuring a center walnut panel bearing a hint of a Brutalist design with graduating stacked horizontal cut outs, custom made in Lawrence, Kansas by woodworking artist Matthew Jarmer. The base insets and the rectangular top were crafted from locally sourced wood from Topeka, Kansas. Good ‘Ol T-Town!!! Check out that magnificent wood grain!!! It’s simply marvelous!!! The table edges are “semi natural” as there has been some sanding but it’s not completely smooth, some of the uneven natural knotty tones of the wood come through. The center of the table exhibits a unique feature utilizing a beautiful natural split which created an opening that only Mother Nature (and maybe some hand crafted mastery from Mr. Jarmer!) could design. It is convenient for phone and other device cords if you are using it as a conference or worktable, but it would also serve as an INCREDIBLE dining table!! Talk about a BOLD statement piece!! Enigma definition: A person, object, or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand. This cupboard is just that… definitely puzzling and mysterious!! And I sure wish it could talk because I bet it has some GREAT stories to share!! Something tells me it’s seen a few things and has had quite an interesting history. It is a one-piece cabinet comprised of oak with a top and bottom section and an open center section. The doors have carvings with (what we believe are) dates back to the 1600’s. The door fronts remind me of vintage livery cupboards… they are nostalgic and quite mystifying!! We don’t believe the whole cupboard is quite the same age, hence, more mystery! We believe the body or frame of the cupboard is Early 1900’s, possibly earlier, and was made from reclaimed lumber or someone possibly took pieces of an old cabinet and repurposed it. The top section is constructed with mortise & tenon joints (no nails!), the inner top & base cabinets each enclose a single adjustable wood shelf with aged wood peg brackets, and stepped siderails or shelf supports. Fabulous antique replica spelter detailed sculptures of the Marly rearing horse and groom original stone sculptures by Guillaume Coustou. These replica sculptures were extremely popular in the Victorian era and were done by many artists. This pair is in wonderful antique condition with no outstanding flaws we have detected. Please see photos, circa late 19th century. I knew I needed these to offer to you the moment I saw them. This lovely pair of antique Victorian highly detailed sculptures of the famed Marly rearing horse and groom sculptures are after the stone originals by Guillaume Coustou and will look amazing on your mantle, or wherever you decide. These small replica sculptures were done by many different artists in the late 19th century and were all the rage. Most were never signed but show the original signature of Coustou on the base, as do these. This handsome pair are cast in spelter, an alloy of which zinc is the main constituent, and have an exquisite age patina. They are mounted on their original black painted wood bases. Fantastic vintage Art Deco set of 3 chrome tube and original black vinyl or faux leather chairs in the style of Kem Weber's Z Chair. The frames have scratches consistent with age and on two of the chairs the texture on the vinyl is a bit different than the third chair. This is a very handsome vintage set of 4 Steelcase chairs comprised of a wonderful cantilever chrome tube base and arms with lovely black plastic arm rests. They have clean, sleek, classic lines with rounded seat backs and contoured seats upholstered in their original gray faux leather or vinyl fabric. We say these chairs are mostly modern, but they would definitely blend in beautifully with Art Deco, mid-century modern, Bauhaus, and other styles. They are extremely comfortable, bursting with impeccable style, and will look wonderful surrounding any dining, office, game, or conference table!! They would also be stunning extra seating scattered about in your living or family room! This set of four is definitely superb Steelcase seating!! Steelcase was founded as the Metal Office Furniture Company in 1912 by Peter M. Wege in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Metal Office Furniture Company's first products included fireproof metal safes and four-drawer filing cabinets which Wege invented and manufactured for the Macey Company. In 1914, the company received its first product patent for "The Victor," a fireproof steel wastebasket. The Victor gained popularity due to its light weight achieved through a patented process of bending flat steel at right angles to create boxes, and its ability to prevent fires at a time when smoking was common indoors, particularly in the workplace. In 1915, the company began manufacturing and distributing steel desks and in 1937, the company collaborated with Frank Lloyd Wright on office furniture. The partnership lasted two years and resulted in some of the first modern workstations. The company officially changed its name to Steelcase, Inc. in 1954 and became known as the leader of the furniture industry in the late 1960s due to the volume of its sales and in 1973, the company debuted the Series 9000 furniture line. Fabulous organic modern bronze fishbowl sculpture by John Forsythe comprised of cast bronze with golden bronze and green patination. Just look at this magnificent cast bronze bowl sculpture with fish design created by John Forsythe. A decorative bowl comprised of a cast bronze water whirlpool with swimming fish caught in the spinning currents, their half bodies and patinated green tails distending from the swirling water and a fish tail protruding from the exterior base of the bowl. You feel the struggle of trying to stay above water and complete your journey. Surrounded by a cast bronze rim trimmed with shiny green bubbles or fish eggs as to represent salmon and their spawning. Salmon lay an enormous number of eggs because they face a lot of adversity on their journey to becoming an adult, and while we aren’t sure these fish are in fact salmon, it certainly speaks to the realities of the course of life. Overcoming hardships and struggles and new beginnings. This sculpture is unique and one of only fifty created by John Forsythe, so it is sure to be a sought-after piece for collectors. This Founders Furniture tall Gentleman’s chest is comprised of gorgeous book matched oak veneer and features six full width drawers and two double opening doors, one drawer above the doors and five below. Each drawer is fitted with unique campaign style brass-toned inset handles with brass plated beading around each drawer opening. Excellent set of eight black Torsion dining chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for KI. There are seven arm chairs and one side chair. They are in wonderful vintage condition with minor wear that you would expect with age. Please see photos, circa 1995. In 1997 Giancarlo Piretti received an award for his Torsion seating collection. These chairs are part of that collection. Designed and made initially and primarily for commercial purpose they are extremely comfortable and flexible. They are lightweight and stackable. This set has an attractive textured high impact black plastic seat, back, and arms on chrome legs. No one expects this chair have the comfort it provides. The back flexes. This flex is achieved with the torsion mechanism which creates gradually increasing resistance. They were designed for comfort during long meetings or lectures. But, that makes them perfect for long dinners with lots of conversation. Or, family night with puzzles, cards, and games. The designer, Giancarlo Piretti, was born in Bologna Italy in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums including MoMA New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with is son, designer Alessandro Piretti. Handsome Mid-Century Modern coral vinyl faux leather and aluminum leg chaise lounge or day bed. It is in good vintage condition. The beautiful original coral colored vinyl has many nicks, holes, dings, and tears. But we have repaired a few and if you do not need perfection you could get by using this great colored upholstery. One large repair is in the middle of the head pad. Please see photos. However, we know most will want to reupholster, so it is priced accordingly. Circa mid-20th century. I am looking into the future and I can just imagine you lounging upon this lovely chaise while sipping a cocktail from your mid-century modern bar cart! Or maybe that’s me? No. I think it is you. Well I assume that means you are going to make this fabulous piece yours. It is comprised of four-square tubular brushed aluminum legs which hold it to padded chaise lounge body. It is currently wearing its original gorgeous coral colored vinyl faux leather with nail head detail. Unfortunately, this covering has seen lots of use and you will most likely want to recover. However, we have repaired a few of the boo boos and if you can live with them for a bit you could enjoy this luscious color for a while. It will be fabulous in your mid-century modern home or industrial loft no matter where it is used. We did not find any tags or maker’s name and do not know exactly how this piece started its life. But we can visualize it learning lots of secrets in a psychiatrist office or offering a seat to young starlets in the director’s office. Whatever secrets it holds we know you are smitten as we are. Handsome fireplace fender style brass plated aluminum, glass, and wood large square coffee table attributed to Erwin Lambeth. It is in fabulous vintage condition. There are a few small scratches on the brass plating and a few nicks in the wood frame as you would expect with its age. But it has a brand-new piece of glass. Please see photos, circa 1960s-1970s. We are in love with this gorgeous coffee table! This is the second time we have run across one of these and the moment I saw it I knew we needed another to be able to offer it to you. Although unmarked, we have been able through online research to be very sure of its Erwin Lambeth attribution. It is comprised of a square brass-plated aluminum base which looks like a fireplace fender with aluminum spindles and turned knob detail. It is mounted on a plinth base and is topped by a thick wood edged frame with a glass insert. Outstanding! It is the perfect center of attention as a coffee table should be. Large enough to display an interesting centerpiece or object d’art, along with coffee table books galore, and still room for setting a cocktail or cup of coffee. It will work beautifully with a Hollywood Regency, Campaign, or Traditionally designed space. As well as in a formal living room or a more casual family room. Handsome yet simple full-size headboard from the Planner Group designed by Paul McCobb for Winchendon. It is in fabulous original vintage condition with no outstanding flaws we have detected. Please see photos, circa mid-20th century. Paul McCobb (1917-1969), is a 20th century design genius. He wanted to be an artist from childhood and studied drawing and painting for a time but left his studies to enlist in the Army in 1942. Only serving a short time and was medically discharged in 1943. McCobb’s design genius was first noticed while working as a design and decorating consultant for Martin Feinman’s Modernage Furniture in New York City in 1948. While there he met B.G.
