And this piece bears the original Century Furniture tag and is not part of the new collection and is only available vintage!!! So, It’s your LUCKY DAY!!! Playing with Hollywood Regency and Chinoiserie styles, Raymond Sabota designed this piece oh-so-handsomely. It is comprised of a stunning rectangular ebony-toned wood framework featuring beautiful burlwood inlays on the door fronts, 6 drawers, and phenomenal recessed top. It exhibits double doors in the center of the cabinet and three drawers on each side of the double doors all surrounded with beautiful brass trim & displaying magnificent brass hardware. And hidden BEHIND those double doors lies a marvelous secret!! THREE more drawers graduating from narrow at the top to a bit wider at the bottom AND they also have lovely brass pulls in the center of each drawer. That’s NINE drawers total!! Whatever its use, it bears an EXQUISITE and timeless style you are sure to love for years to come! Raymond Karl Sobota (1914-2010) is an award-winning American furniture designer. He attended and obtained his degree in design from Kendall College of Art and Design in his native home of Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduating in 1946 Sobota apprenticed with his namesake and uncle, a furniture designer as well, Karl Schmidt, who designed for Berkey and Gay Furniture Company. He apprenticed for seven years leading to his designing for Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co., the Mt. Airy Furniture Co., Hekman Furniture and finally Century Furniture for whom he designed from 1952 until 1995. He designed all the company’s wood furniture during that time in total, over 150 collections. The most notable being Citation, Chin Hua, Claridge, and the Henry Ford Museum and the British National Trust collections. Sobota is credited for helping make Century Furniture the industry leader it is today. Century Furniture Company, one of the world’s largest privately owned upper-end residential furniture manufacturers, was founded in 1947 by Harley Ferguson Shuford, Sr. When first formed Century Furniture was a selling agent for local upholstery lines. But as soon as a year later Shuford had built a case goods plant in Hickory, North Carolina and that started it all. Harley Shuford along with his siblings and children acquired company after company expanding into upholstered furniture, chair manufacturing, and even a leather division. Century has made it through feast and famine in the furniture business and today retains their long-standing role as a leading force in the American home furnishings market. Specifically, his hands only had the wire structure so new hand-molded & crafted hands were created by our professional craftsmen and the wood on the base was bad so it has been given a new gilded wood base. This is an absolutely magnificent Ecclesiastical Religious Art plaster statue of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. He is comprised of hand sculpted and hand painted plaster and he stands about 43 inches tall upon a square flat edge gilded wood base. He has handsome, realistic, intricately hand painted facial features, and his glorious dark brown shoulder length hair drapes gracefully upon his shoulders. He wears a lovely, flowing robe featuring the Sacred Heart symbol upon his chest and his beautiful bare feet are exposed at the base of his robe. His enticing hands are open and reaching out as if to welcome you into his arms. The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most widely practiced Catholic Faith devotions wherein the heart of Jesus Christ is viewed as a symbol of “God’s boundless and passionate love for mankind.” The Sacred Heart is depicted as a flaming heart shining from behind with divine light, pierced by the lance with a bleeding wound, and encircled by the crown of thorns. And Christian faith depicts it more as a flaming heart, while the wounds and crown of thorns allude to the manner of Christ’s passion and the flames a furnace of ardent love. You can depict it how you choose! We believe that his original home was most likely a wonderful old church where he was admired for many years. Due to his materials, he should only be exhibited indoors…. Which is exactly where we all need the Lord to be anyway… on the inside!!! He will be absolutely divine in your entry way or heavenly in a sunroom surrounded by indoor foliage or faux plants & trees. Handsome antique Victorian dresser of solid walnut and burl walnut with white marble top and black painted turned wood and brass teardrop pulls. It is in wonderful antique condition with an amazing antique patina. The candle shelves were broken and there was a small piece of molding missing on the lower left side of the mirror frame, but the shelves have been repaired beautifully and the molding carved and replaced by our experienced staff. There are other smalls signs of its long life and use including some staining on the antique white marble. We love its warm antique age patina. The mirror glass is clear but old. Fabulous vintage white vinyl & chrome tube barstool by Thonet Model SS33 Bauhaus cantilever chair by Anton Lorenz. This piece is tagged Thonet but has been attributed to Anton Lorenz based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Did someone say Thonet?? Yes, we sure did!! This is a fabulous labeled Thonet cantilever barstool circa 1980’s. It is in the style of the model SS33 Bauhaus cantilever chair designed in the 1930’s for Thonet by famed designer Anton Lorenz. The chair design was later adapted to create this wonderful barstool! It is comprised of a chrome tube cantilever frame, black block stabilizers on the base, and white vinyl seats and back rests. A simple, stunning, and oh-so-comfortable design! It is the perfect stool for your kitchen, bar, or rec room whether you live in a Bauhaus or mid-century modern home, an industrial loft, or Art Deco style home. It’s a classic, sleek style that has stood the test of time!! If you’ve been searching for a barstool or just the right extra seating, this stool is exactly what you’ve been looking for! Thonet was founded by Michael Thonet. Michael was born in 1796 and was apprenticed by his father to a cabinetmaker. Shortly after he married, Michael opened his one-man cabinetmaking shop creating furniture and cabinetry in the traditional manner by carving the needed parts and then joining them together. In 1830 he began experimenting with bending wood into curved shapes and thus began a successful furniture company that has remained continually in operation for nearly 200 years. Thonet’s early work was very Biedermeier in style and not made for the common man. Gradually his designs became more Art Nouveau. In 1951 his chairs for the Crystal Palace at the London World’s Fair won a prize medal and by the late 1950s he began to make his first “consumer” chair. In 1875, a year before Michael’s death, Thonet’s five factories made 620,000 chairs. Then in 1876 after his death the company became Gebruder Thonet. But all was not roses. In 1869 the Thonet patents lapsed and by 1893 there were 52 bentwood companies in Europe. However, Thonet persevered. They branched out. They merged. They added designs by Le Corbusier and Breuer and alternative materials such as tubular chrome in place of bentwood to their offerings. Business boomed and waned through the years and there was even a Thonet revival, so to speak, beginning in the 1940s on into the mid-20th century. Till today, in the 21st century, Thonet is still a furniture company to be reckoned with almost 200 years later. Anton Lorenz was known as the man behind the Bauhaus’ “machined aesthetic.” He was born in Budapest in 1891, became a teacher, and later married an opera singer, and entered a lock manufacturing business. They relocated to Berlin in the early 1920’s. in Berlin he met architects Marcel Breuer and Kalman Lengyel who were both associated with Bauhaus in Dessau. Breuer became the first designer to construct furniture out of tubular steel, joined forces with Lengyel and found a manufacturing company and Anton Lorenz became manager. He was business savvy and obtained patents to establish a network of rights for new tubular steel furniture and would go on to do the same for Desta and Thonet who dominated the industry. In 1939 Lorenz emigrated to the United States where he established the design technology for the well-known recliner. He developed his own design in 1940 called the BarcaLounger and later partnered with Morris Futorian...

Gorgeous modern oak veneer large trestle style dining or conference table with bullnose edge top and slab style legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. We have noticed a few minor nicks and dings on the top and along the edges. Lol… It’s super large!! It is comprised of gorgeous oak veneer with solid oak applied to both ends… kind of a modified trestle style dining table with slab legs, and beautiful bullnose edge on said top and legs. The added solid oak ends are separated from the veneered top by a narrow-blackened groove which sets this detail off nicely. It is absolutely stunning!! It is a colossal 96 inches long and seats eight comfortably, but you may fit ten if the chairs are a bit narrower or you straddle the legs. The legs are recessed 6.5 inches, so straddling is not a large obstacle. In addition, although the natural oak is beautiful, we can also see this being ebonized with a little black dye. Incredible!!! It will be fabulous in your dining room or as a lovely conference table at the office! It is modern in style, but it will host oodles of options of dining or office chairs! We have LOTS of chairs...

Incredible vintage modern to postmodern southwest style textured sculptural plaster floor lamp with its original beige linen-like coolie shade. It is comprised of wonderful Philippine Mahogany and finished all the way around so it can float nicely in any room you choose, plus we have added a lovely new black painted base… and it looks FABULOUS! The front double doors are spilt at the top and in the center by a wood handle that runs the length of the doors of the cabinet. So, you can open the smaller top section and leave the lower portion closed or vice versa. The right door closes over the left, so simply pull the right-hand door using the handle which reveals the inside of the cabinet featuring shelves and a small center storage unit with doors. Mid-Century Modern 2-piece china hutch, cabinet, or buffet by Heywood Wakefield for the Contessa Collection. Comprised of 2-pieces a top hutch & a bottom buffet in a dark cherrywood, woven wicker basket weave or caned door fronts, brass toned pulls, & slim steel legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are nicks on the left side of the buffet edge toward the front. Stiffener has been added underneath buffet as the cabinet had sagged in the middle making doors uneven. Stiffener corrected that issue. Please see photos and zoom in for details. "Furniture of Slender Elegance." And does this China cabinet ever fit that description. The Contessa line features a darker cherrywood, gold or brass toned accents, and slim steel legs. This cabinet has 2 pieces. A bottom buffet that features brass toned pulls that open two sets of double doors. There are three drawers on the right side with a silverware tray in the top drawer. The left side is open storage. The top hutch features two rolling side doors with woven wicker basket weave, or caned, door fronts and three shelves in the center. The whole cabinet stands on slim steel legs and exudes mid-century modern magnificence! This awesome, versatile china cabinet or buffet will look amazing whether you place it in the dining room, living room, study, or the kitchen. It is adaptable enough to blend right in whether your design style leans to Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern, industrial, southwestern, or modern country. In 1897, two prominent furniture companies, Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company merged and created Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company; the name would be shortened to Heywood-Wakefield in 1921. All you need is a full or queen-sized mattress and a Hollywood frame OR if you don’t mind the opinion of my mom, who is an EXCEPTIONAL retired interior designer… She would have a hanging mechanism or wall cleat made so that you can attach it to the wall and lift it a little higher, use a platform rather than a Hollywood frame, and toss out the box springs as mattresses today are much taller than they used to be. Wonderful vintage Chinese Chinoiserie dining table comprised of Rosewood & Mother of Pearl (m-o-p) round top with 2 leaves, converting it to a small oval with one leaf and large oval with 2 leaves. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This Asian style table is in excellent vintage condition with the exception of a small missing piece of m-o-p on the top which we have repaired by filling with wood filler and painting with a pearlized paint. You can still see the spot when looking for it but doesn’t show overall. There was also a nick on the inside edge of one of the leaves that has been filled. My mother (who is a retired interior designer and has been identifying vintage pieces since before I was born… and I am vintage myself!!) believes the actual style is a copy after Russel Wright but the construction leads her to believe it’s Bissman. The design world calls these transition pieces… of the era when pieces transitioned between the Art Deco period and the Mid-Century Modern period, during the early portion of the 20th century. Folks, there are plenty of cabinets in this world BUT every now and then (And NOT very often!) you come across an EXTRORDINARY vintage Henredon piece like this and it simply takes your breath away!!!! WOW!!! This is a STUNNING Entertainment Arbus Armoire 6000 Series by Henredon Furniture composed of two pieces, an upper and lower section with each of these sections comprised of beautiful book matched burl wood frames bearing a SPECTACULAR starburst pattern illuminating from behind the lovely cast bronze handles that meet in the upper lower corners of each of the four doors. The doors open to reveal an inside storage space with two removeable adjustable wood shelves in the center of each section and two fixed wood shelves, one created by the cabinet connection and the other in the lower section above four drawers with carved handle pulls. So, technically you have four shelves to use for storage!! The cabinet features upper and lower audio/video ventilated knockouts (that have never been knocked out,) and has two small circular convenient cord cut outs on the lower left corner of each section AND it comes with electrical supply cords.
