Handsome vintage MCM Scandinavian Modern style teak extending coffee table with sliding top, white Formica square center with gold leaves, and a lower slatted shelf. Every now and then you need to EXPAND your horizons… or at least, your coffee table!! We are here to help!! This is a stunning vintage coffee table comprised of a solid teak frame with a teak veneered extending top attributed to Remploy. This fabulous expansion design consists of inner grooves and the two top halves have pins that stick in those grooves and slide up and apart to expand the tabletop AND reveal a gorgeous square Formica lined square surface adorned with little gold leaves! An ideal place to set a beverage or vase of flowers. The wood has a beautiful variation of the natural tones inherent to the aspect of the wood… it is phenomenal! It also has a very useful slatted shelf below the tabletop… perfect storage for books, magazines, or maybe a tray for your remotes! Whether closed or expanded, its quintessential Scandinavian Modern design is sure to bring a bold statement with a Danish flair to any room in your home.
Remploy is an organization in the United Kingdom which provides employment placement services for disabled people. Historically, it also directly employed disabled people in a number of factories owned by Remploy itself and subsidized by the UK government however, these were phased out at the start of the 21st century. It opened its first factory in 1946 and over the following decades it established a network of 83 factories across the UK making a variety of products. Remploy underwent a major change to its operation at the start of the 21st century and branched out into providing general employment assistance for disabled people, and others with barriers to employment. After the closure of most Remploy factories, the provision of these assistance services became Remploy's principal purpose. In March 2015, it was confirmed that Remploy would become owned by US service provider Maximus. Transfer of ownership was completed in April 2015.

A FABULOUS quartet of quintessential Mid-Century Modern magnificence!!! WOW!! This is a set of four vintage dining chairs by Foster-McDavid comprised of gorgeous walnut frames and the original cobalt blue faux Naugahyde leather upholstery on the seats and backs. They have high tapered backs with a wonderfully unusual design as the fabric wraps over the top and extends about a quarter of the way down the walnut back… it’s really a stunning feature! ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY KING AND QUEEN!!!! Talk about ABSOLUTE Royalty!!! This is a glorious pair of Gothic Revival Ecclesiastical His & Hers Throne chairs comprised of hand carved oak frames bearing engraved Gothic details, designs, and cutouts including a transcendent triple finial high back presentation worthy of nobility. Each peak is hand carved with designs resembling oak leaves and they have been intricately dyed black… they’re nothing short of fabulous. Because of the maturity of these chairs, we believe that they were probably reupholstered at some point in their lives, and they look marvelous!! They are wearing a beautiful bright cardinal red hopsacking fabric trimmed with gimp and nail head details on the seats and back inserts which also have upholstered backs. The King chair has fabric surrounding the arm rests while the Queen chair has no arms, however it does have attractive side braces. Both thrones have lovely hand carved decorative front aprons with black detail and stand proudly upon turned front legs with black dyed rings & details on casters and square straight slightly curved back legs… I mean, WOW!!!! They’re definitely Ecclesiastical and Gothic Revival but they bear a bit of East Lake Victorian style as well and they are SURE to be quite the conversation piece in your home! But let me tell you something… You are about to BUST A MOVE when you lay eyes on this INCREDIBLE copper kettle drum, we are offering as a REAL drum table, by W.F.L. Drum Company!!! AAAAHHHHH!! IT. IS. AWESOME!!! Its exclusive style borders between Industrial, steampunk, and a bit rustic. It is center table height, and it is comprised of a copper kettle surrounded by copper painted aluminum base, arms, and foot pedal and a fabulous drum skin top with a painted steel rim and vertical chrome handles. A fun fact… W.F.L. Drum Company was established by William F. Ludwig and a MONUMENTAL moment for Ludwig was on a Sunday night in February 1964 “The Beatles” preformed “All My Loving” as the intro song on “The Ed Sullivan Show” as Ringo Starr jammed out on his iconic drums which bared the Ludwig logo! Talk about a SPECTACULAR SERVICE!!! Literally…WOW!!! This is a marvelous vintage Vega Pottery coffee service set Made in Ecuador by famed ceramist Eduardo Vega including 1 coffee pot with a removeable lid, 1 creamer, and 5 cups. Each incredible piece is intricately hand painted and enameled bearing wonderful geometric shapes and patterns composed in beautiful colors of pink, lavender, brown, & burgundy with black speckled lines between, and white inner linings. The base and handle on each piece wears a lovely metallic luster glaze and this set is fully functional & ready to serve up a warm cup of joe in magnificent Modern style!! We believe that these beauties deserve a nice gentle hand-washing so we don’t recommend placing them in the dishwasher, besides… that’s no way to treat a creation of such elegance!! I can’t think of anything better than a vintage Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller Aluminum Group high back chair!!! Except maybe a purple one!! Aubergine Eggplant, Purple whichever!! WOW!!! It is comprised of an aluminum frame, 4 prong aluminum base with nylon feet, black swivel shaft, black powder coated aluminum arms, and it has been reupholstered in a lovely aubergine or eggplant faux suede fabric. Can we just say Design EXCELLENCE!!!! And not to mention extraordinary comfort! The dynamic design duo of husband and wife team Charles & Ray Eames focused on every detail and combined ergonomics, flexibility, constructive elements, highest quality materials, and attention to superior style which created a masterpiece that is highly sought after still today. The design was introduced in 1958 and is still in production! This vintage beauty will be phenomenal at a desk in an office setting, next to your bed or in the dressing area of your bedroom, or extra seating in the sitting room. It is versatile enough to blend in with many décor styles, but it’s bursting with Mid-Century Modern magnificence!! This treasure is exactly what the designer ordered!
Charles Eames was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1907. Ray Kaiser Eames was born in Sacramento, California in 1912. They met at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and were married in 1941. They moved together to California and continued their design work they began together at Cranbrook. A commission, which they acquired from the government during WWII to produce molded plywood splints and stretchers, launched a career producing iconic Mid-Century Modern furnishings which are still fresh and sought after today. And these white milk glass & aluminum monumental cylinder pendant lights by Visa are nothing short of that… Totally EXTRAORDINARY!!! And let me tell you… SIZE MATTERS FOLKS!!! And the glass body ALONE on one is 30 inches tall… 35.25 inches rim to rim… 43 inches to the top of the cone and it’s 14 inches in diameter!! HOLY MOLY!!! They are LARGE and in CHARGE!!! We have 4 of these fabulous, hardwired pendant lights that we are selling separately. They are comprised of an incredible milk glass cylinder shade, a marvelous spun aluminum base, top rim (or flange), and a wonderful cone shaped finial. Inside the cylinder is a metal dowl rod with a lamp holder featuring 6 sockets with bulbs… 3 facing up and 3 facing down. And if you follow that rod down even lower, there is yet another single down facing light. So, this means you have TWO lighting options… You can have ALL the lights on OR you can switch off the down facing light. Isn’t it NICE to have options?? And all this MAGNIFICENCE hangs from a fabulous spun aluminum canopy and handsome metal hanging chain. Fun Fact!!! Visa Lighting has a cool little video on U-Tube discussing their products and history and these EXACT light fixtures make a quick appearance in the video photographed with a red background behind the lights, you should check it out!! They’re kind of FAMOUS!! We can just see a series of three or all four hanging over your dining table, kitchen island, or indoor bar. And though they are Art Deco Revival in style, they will also blend in beautifully with your Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Modern, and other décor styles. A single light would be stunning in a tall, narrow entryway, stairwell, or hallway or a sequence of three or four in your Great room hanging from the tall, vaulted ceilings.
